What They Do & How They Make Money
Oracle makes money primarily by selling software and computing capacity that businesses use to run their core operations — finance, human resources, supply chain, customer relationship management, and, increasingly, the underlying cloud infrastructure that hosts these workloads and AI models. Historically, the bulk of Oracle's revenue came from licensing its flagship relational database and charging annual support and maintenance fees on that license base — a highly profitable, recurring "license support" model that generated enormous cash flow for decades.
